We are currently in Divonne-les-Bains, France and Adam is attending the local French primary school (Ecole Primaire du Centre).
His Grade 1 (CP A) teacher's name is Madam Frederique Fiacre, a pretty young teacher who tries so very hard to help us out by using English to explain things to Adam in class and putting notes in English for me as well.
However, this is just too hilarious not to put in a blog! The children today (22Jan2010), went on a snow mountain walk (if I had the term correctly put!) and below are the notes the teacher has translated into English for me earlier, using her 'translator programme' she says, for me to get things ready for their snowshoe walk:

The pupils of CP A and the CP B will participate in an exit rackets (snowshoes) which will take place on Friday, January 22nd all day long. The departure will be made of the school and the return is planned for 4.30pm. In case of bad weather the exit will be put back.
This exit can be realized thanks to the financing of the Sou of Schools and the school Cooperative.
We need 2 or 3 parents approved for us accompanied.
So, it will be necessary to plan:
-A picnic which the children will put in a rucksack (because they will carry it all day long)
-A dress of ski
-gloves, a hat
-The shoes of mountain
-The sunglasses
-the solar cream
-The big socks
**I had abit of a problem initially trying to decode 'shoes of mountain' and 'big socks' but after checking with other kids' mums, it's 'snowshoes' and 'thick socks' and 'solar cream' is of course, sunscreen cream and dress of ski = ski-suit.

If on Friday the weather does not allow us to go to Vattay, the adjournment is planned on February 12th. The decision of adjournment will be taken on Thursday 21/01, so we shall hold you informed.
Thank you for planning besides that we asked you for a big strong polythene bag which will serve as seat and maybe as sled. This bag will be placed in the rucksack of the picnic.

Hello,
Considering the meteo information, we have just decided with the other mistress teacher of 1ST YEAR OF PRIMARY SCHOOL, that the exit rackets would indeed take place tomorrow.
On the other hand it will be a little shortened: the bus will arrive at 9am and pricks us shall screw maybe in the warmth. The pupils are expected at 8.30am, the parents guides can stay class with us there or join in the front of the school at 8.50am. If your child suffers from the evil of the transport thank you for anticipating (preventive treatment to be given you even on the way out, to be entrusted to the teacher for return and bag vomitoire) Thank you for equipping suitably your children.

You are right. The teacher is indeed hilarious. Anyway, she must have tried very hard to make you understand. I admire her for being carefull.
Unlike in Malaysia. Teachers are careless. Do you know last week, The Chung Ling High School in Penang lost 5 students and 1 teacher in a Dragon Boat practice in the sea. They were practicing in a busy traffic area. The waves overturn the boat and 6 of them were drowned. The parents of the students said that money cannot bring them back. At least Adam;s teacher is very responsible
