Back in Port Moresby from France/Switzerland and something happened in less than 2months when we got back!!

We have been back to Port Moresby since May 2010.
Quite a bit have happened since then and now.

Got a new place to stay, courtesy of my ex/employer who was glad that I'm returning to work as they are so very short of staff, so they are willing to provide accommodation, transport, internet allowance, electricity allowance and phone allowance.

They increased my pay as well though with the higher tax, it's actually not much more than what I was previously getting at the end of the day!

Anyway, David had to travel quite abit after we got back to Port Moresby.
With him away alot and being in a new place, I guess the locals here notice that each time we drive out, it's always a small kid and woman in the car!
Soooo....at 3am on 1st July2010, I was rudely woken up with loud banging sounds.
SHOCK HORROR! We are being robbed!!!!

I screamed my head off...but of course, nobody came in this country of the unexpected! Scared Adam BIG time too!
The 5 robbers were young, came in and told me to either stop screaming or they will shoot me (showing me a gun - pointing at my head!).
They asked for car keys and money..repeatedly.

They went around the room ransacking the place..was over in less than 5mins, I guess.
They took my new laptop that David got for me from London as a Christmas present (when we were there in Dec 2009), my phone, my jogging shoes, portable hard drives, Adam's gameboy, my bilum containing my credit cards and ATM cards.

I was totally lost as the whole house is wide open (they broke through the outside gate, broke a steel grill, broke a wooden door, came upstairs and broke into our bedroom door. It was all VERY frightening!

Adam has bad nightmares for over a month; he'd wake up almost every 3hours for one month, asking if he could sleep with us as he had nightmares.

Anyway, it's all well and good now after we've put up security cameras, had 24hours security downstairs, walkie talkie as backup alarm connected to security firm etc!
But I still don't really feel safe here and can't wait to leave this place to somewhere where I can walk out and walk on the street for some fresh air!
Love the job, don't like the feeling of insecurity here.

Most of the people here are nice, only the minority is enough to make you feel super insecure!

Oh well..I go on Living one day at a time!!
